Rakesh Kumar is a visionary leader and a valued member of Light’s founding team. He is a strong believer in technology and process optimization and has been instrumental in establishing the company’s unique presence in the industry as its CEO. He prioritizes the well-being of the team and fosters a corporate culture that values both technology and people.

Rakesh brings extensive experience in building finance operations from the ground up and scaling to multiple states. His expertise in building, managing and leading teams, as well as establishing systems and processes, is evident in his successful career. Before joining Light, Rakesh worked with Bharat Financial Inclusion Limited (BFIL), where he played a significant role in its rapid growth.

Rakesh holds a Master’s degree in Rural Management from the Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA) and brings with him a strong financial acumen, along with knowledge of financial management, budgeting, forecasting and fundraising. He has also implemented a robust credit risk management team, which has contributed to Light’s exceptional portfolio quality and performance.

Rakesh can build strong relationships with customers, partners and investors. He has a collaborative mindset and has been working closely with co-founders, employees and other stakeholders to achieve shared goals. He is self-motivated, with a drive to succeed and the ability to stay focused on goals despite obstacles and setbacks. Above all, Rakesh has a genuine passion for what he does and a commitment to making a positive impact through his work.
